I love asymmetric skirts! I have been “researching” on where I can get one for the least expensive, but still get what I want…and it’s a lot harder than you’d think! The best ones I found were both $50. One from Zara, and one from Urban Outfitters. I liked the skirt from Zara because of the color and fabric, and the skirt from Urban Outfitters mainly because of the colors. After contemplating on my final decision, I chose to make my own!
I went down to a local thrift store and found this HIDEOUS long, black, polyester, 18 layered, elastic, skirt for $7. I squeezed my brain and decided to buy it, and if it didn’t work out how I wanted I would buy the $50 one from Zara. When I got home, I turned the skirt inside-out and cut out every layer except the top sheer one. I then put it on and cut the front out based on my height. After that, I cut down the sides at an angle so the skirt would be asymmetric….and voila!
So. Below I have my three favorite ways to wear an asymmetric skirt! The first one, I wore the skirt over a tight, cotton, black dress and orange suede platforms. I would wear this to a party or a fancy event! The second look I styled the skirt with a jean collared shirt and a sweater, I’m also wearing lace-up grey heels. I would wear this look to work or to a more casual, fun event. The last look I am simply just wearing a tight black T-shirt and military boots with the skirt! This look is the most simple but also makes just as much as a statement as the other outfits do!
