Barneys was originally located on 18th and 7th before moving to the Upper East Side, and on President’s Day, the new Barneys NY Flagship store opened on 17th and 7th. The store is 4 floors of beauty, accessories, womens, and mens. The staircase extended through each floor in the middle of the store, and paid homage to the iconic staircase at the original location. Opening back downtown will make it easier for their millennial customers to shop their favorite brands without having to shlep uptown, and all of the sales associates were extremely nice and welcoming to my friends and me (unlike at the uptown locale). The only downside is that in the beauty department their two anchors are Chanel and Givenchy, meaning that they do not have YSL. I appreciate that it is a much more curated collection of product, and that I didn’t feel out of place whilst “shopping” inside.
